| Sunday Foodbank Collection | In light of the severe food shortages and rising food prices in the news, Fr. Steve is asking the parish to bring a can or box of non-perishable food to Sunday services. Toiletries and pet food are also appreciated, as are paper and plastic bags. | |||

12-26 Ministry Fair Sunday Coffee Hour |
Ministry Fairs: Over three Sundays (October 12, 19, and 26), Christ Church ministries and activities will be present in the Undercroft following the 10am services. These fairs will provide parishioners an opportunity to learn more about the outreach, worship, and congregational programs of Christ Church. If you have been wondering about the adult education program or music ministry, for example, these coming Sundays may help you understand their missions and activities. These are examples of stewardship in action. | |||

The Contemplative Community Group meets the first Sunday of the month for a potluck lunch, prayer and discussion in Wilson Hall from 12:15-1:30 PM. The next meeting will be on November 2. | |||

If you are a young adult, ages 18-35, and would like a group that talks about politics, Richard Hooker, bible study, movies, and theology, then plan to join us on Mondays, at 7PM in the 2nd floor Lounge for the start of a weekly gathering of spiritual seekers. | Prayer Shawl Group, Noon, Thursdays, Wilson Hall | Prayer Shawls are made for those who are celebrating special events as well as those suffering from illness or other kinds of trouble. The group meets at noon over a brown bag lunch and works on their projects. How-to help is available for knitting and crocheting. Work is done at home as well. | |||
| Bishop's Visitation in 2009 | Confirmation -- Bishop Rickel will be visiting Christ Church on February 1, 2009. Edie Burkhalter will be leading a confirmation class for young people in middle school and high school in anticipation of his visit. Church 105th Parish Anniversary. 4:30 PM: A Service of Remembrance will be held in the Church. This is an opportunity for the entire neighborhood to remember loved ones who have passed on. 6:00 PM: The Parish Anniversary Dinner, which will be potluck, will follow in the undercroft. Entertainment and parish celebrations will be part of the evening. |

your Calendars! Advent Quiet Day, Saturday, Dec. 6, 9am - 2pm
The members of the Mary and Martha Chapter of the Daughters of the King will be offering a day of prayer, preparation, inspiration, and quiet early in Advent. The day will be organized around the "O Antiphons" with opportunities for corporate worship, times of silence for personal prayer and meditation, reading, or journaling. You are invited to come and go as your schedule allows, but we hope that you will be able to spend the entire day. A sack lunch is suggested; beverages and light snacks will be provided. There is no charge and reservations are not required but they will be appreciated.

A volunteer trip to New Orleans is being planned next February by folk from St. Augustine's on Whidbey Is. The trip is scheduled for Feb. 28 to March 5, 2009. Details are in the newsletter. Cost is $200 for van rental and in-house meals. Receipt of your check will confirm reservations. Airfare and 4-5 meals will be at your own expense. They have the St. Paul’s Homecoming Center with accommodations for 25, reserved for the above dates at no cost. Bring your own bedding and towels. Our own Judy Ostrow went with this group last February and can answer questions. | |||
