Things We Do
Street Chaplaincy

Our neighborhood is ground-zero for the diverging economic highs and lows that plague Seattle. The U-District and the Ave are also a historic gathering place for youth who are living on the streets.

As a parish in the center of this, Christ Church is acutely aware of the struggles of those who are most disadvantaged among us. We aim to provide low-barrier material and emotional support to fill in the gaps for our unhoused neighbors.

Every Sunday after the 10am service, we have casual weekly walkabouts to say hello and provide various small items to those who may need them. All are welcome to walk with us! No church affiliation is required to treat the most vulnerable among us with basic human respect.

Although you are always welcome and needed, we would love it if you'd take the next step and sign up! Our sign up sheet will show you the days when your service is most needed. At the Street Chaplaincy signup page you will see a schedule with each Sunday and slots where you can sign up. (It will walk you through setting up a Signup account if you don't already have one.) If you want to walk but haven't signed up, come anyway!

If you would like to contribute supplies, please visit our wishlist to see the things most in need. Thank you!

UW Campus Ministry

Christ Church houses The Table, the Episcopal campus ministry to the University of Washington. An LGBTQ+-affirming campus ministry, the Table provides space for UW undergraduate and graduate students to learn and grow together and be fed physically and spiritually. The Rev. Shelly Fayette and the Rev. Chris McPeak serve as the pastors of The Table.

For the 2021-2022 School Year, The Table is excited to partner again with The Wesley Club at the University of Washington for Programming. For more information and activity information, visit our Facebook pages.

Sensory Friendly Worship

We are welcoming families of children with sensory differences/special needs to join us in a Eucharist worship service specially designed with your child’s needs in mind.

For some families, going to church is not an option because of worries that a child will be too noisy or disruptive. Please come, and bring your child! If your child can’t sit for long, they can wander around. If your child is noisy, it’s fine! If your child is sensitive to noise, we have headphones available for them to use. We have wiggle seats, bean bag chairs, pillows, fidget toys, books and stuffed animals in the chapel for your child.

You will not find judgemental looks from others here. You will find a welcoming place to worship and feel God’s love. This service is planned and hosted by a group of Christ Church parishioners who are special education teachers and/or parents of children with special needs and we are so excited to invite you to enjoy this new ministry!

The chapel entrance is on NE 47th St and is accessible.

Due to the COVID pandemic, Sensory Friendly Worship is on hiatus until further notice.
